Bon Appétit

Hi there! I just completed another thing on my bucket list. Which is: Cook/bake something from a YouTube tutorial. (You’ll find my sources at the bottom of the post.) I think I already mentioned this before but I usually always cook one dish. That’s the only thing I can make so I don’t have a lot of options haha. On the plus side, I’ve never actually tried something else so who knows, maybe I have a hidden talent.

I love, love, love Thai food! So it’s more than obvious I picked a tutorial of a Thai dish; Thai coconut soup. I found a recipe that (besides of a lot of unkown ingredients) seemed really easy. Thank god it actually was really easy too haha! If you want the full recipe you should check out the link that I put down below. I’ll just kinda walk you through the basic things that I did. The original recipe is slightly different since it’s supposed to be a vegan dish. So instead of using vegan prawns, vegan fish sauce and no-chicken broth I used regular prawns, regular fish sauce and chicken broth. Also I couldn’t find lime leaves and galangal so I just used lime juice and ginger. The recipe advices these replacements as well.

So first things first, I gathered all the ingredients and cut everything that had to be cut in to pieces. (Well this was after I figured out what the ingredients were and where I could find them. Turns out I could just buy most of them in the local store.) Anyway, the easy thing about this recipe is that it mainly consists of throwing everything together in a pan and then just leave it there for about 15 more minutes. It kinda looks like this:

The other thing that you have to do is get your shiitakes (they’re kinda like fancy mushrooms or something) and shrimp ready. Which then looks like this:

If these are finished as well there are only two things left to do. Serve your dish:Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

And eat it! Just a little warning, it’s Thai food, so yes it’s gonna be spicy. I did really like it though and I’m sure I’m going to make this again. I’m actually starting to like cooking too so who knows, you might find me in the kitchen more often. Here’s the link to the YouTube video I used and thanks for reading!

There’s a also a blog post linked to this video. Click here to go to the post.
