Hi everyone! In between all these bucket list post I decided to add something a little more personal. (For as far as Instagram can be personal.) I’m not afraid to admit that I might be a bit addicted to Instagram. I post like 3-4 times a week. I remember a time when I was like “Ok Joan, you can do this! Only one picture a week!” Which went great for a little while but then eventually I didn’t care and was like: Whatever I’ll just post two, or three, or four pictures a week; I learned to embrace my flaws haha.
I think that I started to post more frequently when I was abroad. (I’ve been back home for about 1,5 year now.) When I look back at my time abroad, I think that I was just a little afraid that people back home would forget about me. If they’d see my pictures come by all the time it’d be a lot harder to forget about me. (Like hey y’all! I know that I’m on the other side of the world but I still exist.)
Now I post with a completely different reason. I just like the artistic side of creating the right Insta picture. Like what angle, how should the lightning be and which filters could I use. You kinda want the pictures in your feed to match too. (Until there’s a picture that doesn’t match at all but you post it anyway because you just really like the picture and then you’ve ruined you’re entire feed.) I just love the editing part. Change the lighting and color for example. I usually like it when the background of my picture is really light or a bit white so I make the highlights stand out more. This is what I mean when I say a light background by the way:
(At this point I even have a group chat with three of my friends to decide which pictures I should post.)
Just to give some extra information on how I edit my pictures; I usually use the app VSCO. There are two filters that are my favorite depending on the color/light levels that the picture has. I like hb1 and c1. Hb1 I mostly use for picture with white/blue/grey colors. (So overall for pictures that are not extremely colorful but still are quite light.) C1 I use when I either want some more saturation or when the picture has black/yellow/orange/green colors.
This would be a picture with hb1:
And this would be a picture with C1:
Shout out to my friend Beau Slegers for taking these pictures!
Well this was my Insta story. I apologize if I’ve bored you but I’m a little more passionate about Instagram as I should be. You did make it to the end so it couldn’t have been that bad. Anyways, thanks for reading and hopefully until next time!
